Hopefully the recent storms are now behind us and last week the Council made a start on beach re cycling at Shoebury Common to provide some protection for the beach hut owners east of our slipway who have taken a severe pounding during the past weeks.
I fully understand the concerns by members that there is talk of the Council removing sand from the Yacht Club beach to re cycle to the beach to the east.
To advise I have received a confirmation from Richard Atkins of SBC stating that the Council Contractors will not be removing sand from the Yacht Club bay – that is between the concrete groyne and the first wooden groyne. Furthermore SBC have also confirmed the contractors will be re cycling sand later this week from the second and third bays to the west – to beach hut owners to the east as well as to the Yacht Club beach to maintain our launching facilities.
A further report to follow on the beach re cycling and proposed flood gate.

All past and present Newsbuoys that are in our recent glossy format are now available on ISSUU. ISSUU is a website which allows good access to magazine material and has many other sailing related publications in an easy to read format, which can be accessed from most platforms. I have just found it very interesting going back through the years.
If you have a login you can also follow TBYC to be notified of any updates when published.
Have you outgrown one of your SD Cards and it is now sat in a draw doing nothing. Please could you donate it to the club. We have a need for a few SD cards, but they don’t have to be large. If you can, please put them in an envelope and drop them behind the bar for my attention. As they say “Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.”
Thanks.

Congratulations to Chris Boshier and Struan Wallace who won this weekends racing.
Chris battled testing conditions, capsizing twice before winning the Leigh SC Brass Monkey after 30 years of competition. Well done to Peter Thompson and Chris Clarke who were the only boat to sail round from TBYC, a challenge in itself.
Struan came out on top today after a competitive 2014 Frozen Sheets Trophy race. Struan won by 6 seconds, with a total of 45 boats enjoying the start of TBYC racing in 2014.
The Frozen Sheets race will start at 13.00 on Sunday 5th January 2014.
The kitchen will be open for pre race breakfast/brunch and prize giving will be held in the main bar as soon as possible after the race finishes. Refreshments of Rum Punch and Mince Pies will be served in the Bosuns Hut.
