Update on Proposed Flood Defence and Gate

Published by under Club Notices

Update on Proposed Flood Defence

The Council have submitted a planning application for the Shoebury Common flood defence scheme under their reference 14/00298/BC3M.

Full details of this application can be viewed from the following link

http://planning.southend.gov.uk/PublicAccess/tdc/DcApplication/application_searchresults.aspx

The deadline for any member who wishes to write to the Council to express their view about this proposal is Thursday 20th March 2014.

Proposed Flood gate

The original site plan submitted by the Council in December 2013 indicated a proposed gap of 6.75M.

After consultation with the Council engineers, I am pleased to advise the new gap between the proposed seawalls to the east and west will be increased to 7.5M. This gap will provide a more than sufficient turning circle at the top of the cobbled ramp and will therefore not restrict or hinder our access to our slipway and to the cobbled ramp and beach.

TBYC Racing Calendar 2014-2015 is on its way

Published by under Club Notices,Racing,Social

TBYC Calendar-14-15

As your old Racing Calendar comes to an end, you was just wondering where the next 12 months is going to come from. The Calendar is currently with the printers for this coming year (Apr14-Mar15) and is expected to be behind the Bar for purchase this weekend. We have sourced a new supplier and therefore there has been an excellent price reduction for this year.

The 2014 price is £8.

We have ordered a similar amount to last year, however if we run out please pay and we will submit a further order at the end of the month. All the racing dates in a popular format, with familiar scenes and saving you loads of time writing the programme up somewhere else.

We have completed our recovery and a normal weather station service has been restored. It still can’t be used as an excuse not to go sailing.

The RS Feva Fleet at TBYC is an active class involved in Club Racing, Club and RS Feva Association coaching, British Schools Team Racing events and friendly matches against public schools.

Now that the new season is just around the corner, it is time to encourage new youngsters to enjoy racing the RS Feva, with all our support and team spirit. As a guide the RS Feva is an ideal dinghy for 11 to 16 years old boys and girls.  There are plenty of boats around for sale, so now is the time to join in with the fun.

We have a full programme of events and training for all abilities.  We are keen to encourage and support another generation of RS Feva sailors!  Nothing is compulsory but I think you / your child will be hooked!

Programme so far this year:

Saturday 8th March – Team racing match against Eton College

RS Feva UK Team racing Championships at Farmoor, Oxford SC on May 17

RS Feva UK National Championships – Weymouth May 24/27

‘Thames Valley’ British Schools Team Racing Championships (BSDRA) June 7

RS Feva Open meeting at Burnham SC June 15

RS Feva Association Coaching session (date to be arranged)

Team Racing match against the Royal Hospital School in RS Feva (11 to 15 year olds)  (date to be arranged)RS Feva logo

Plus the training dates at the back of the TBYC  ‘Sailing and Social Programme 2014’

Cadet Evenings – We hold regular ‘ashore’ sessions, looking at tactics and racing skills.

Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
