Please be aware that the bar will be closing at 15:00 this Saturday. I believe this should not affect many members as sailing is reasonably early, however our apologies if you had planned to use it after this time.

With our Grand Summer Ball taking place in the evening it does require a lot of people and hard work to be able to prepare the bar area and I am sure it is appreciated that this is only hampered by people using the bar.

Four Lasers travelled from TBYC to Aldenham Sailing Club on Sunday 7th June, it was part of the Thames grand prix series and had a turnout of 27 boats, the wind was a lovely 8-10mph with a few large gusts thrown in from various angles just to keep you on your toes, and any missed tack or gybe could lose you half a dozen boats as the fleet was very very tight. There were some very good sailors from the circuit there with brand new boats, so it was good to see how we are doing outside of club racing, and also a test of the rules as these guys do not take prisoners !! Our overall results were Rick Paxman 11th, Nick Turner 13th, Jeremy Doran 24th, Richard Sands 25th. Lovely small and friendly club and a really good lake to do our 1st “pond” open on.

If you are around Sunday afternoon and see a lone Windsurfer coming up Thorpe Bay beach then please offer him a hand. It is Jono Dunnett who is attempting to be the 4th person to go around Britain and of course he wants to be the fastest (under 61 days). He is also the first to do it without support boats just friends in each stop. If you have been on holiday with Minorca Sailing then you may have already met Jono. We are one of his first stops so wish him a good trip as he plans to leave at 04:00 Monday morning.

It has been reported that on the foreshore between St Augustines Avenue and The Broadway a boat has sunk on its mooring. In addition, in the same area, maybe closer to St Augustines Avenue, one of the groin markers is missing.  Try to avoid that area if possible, or take great care.

Just a Reminder that I have organised a visit to the RNLI Inshore Boathouse next Thursday 11th June 19.00hrs. This is predominately a Visit for Cadets, however, Parents are most welcome to attend. I have placed a notice on the Cadet Notice board in the Lobby of the Club with a space for names of anyone who wishes to attend, however, it still remains blank! I will meet anyone who wishes to come along, outside the pier Entrance between 18.45pm and 18.55pm. Please remember there is no parking facilities around the Boathouse. Mark.
