This Sunday is the Whalley Cup. This is an annual event raced by Cadets using a Committee boat start and organised as part of the main club racing.
There will be ‘Special Instructions’ posted on the board at the end of the Bosun’s Hut, indicating the course (or where to find it). Start 10.30am. Remember to give yourselves 20 minutes to get to the start line and prepare your start.
The course will be set specifically for Cadets. It will have the usual ‘Club Support boats’ as cover, although neither myself or Andras can be there.
We have two sessions of Race Training for 11+ year old Cadets with basic to more advanced sailing skills this week.
The weather is breezy during Sunday’s session, so wrap up warm!
Friday, July 28th 19.30 On-Shore session in the sail training room.
Sunday, July 30th 14.30 briefing, On-the-water at 15.00. (Change into wetsuits before 14.30)
The On-Shore training will include understanding tide and using it to your advantage. On-the-water session will be in preparation for the Cadet’s Whalley Cup Trophy race on 6th August.
All club members are invited to join the social activities and continued use of the bar throughout the weekend. Friday and Saturday you may find a lot of Catamaran discussions.
Sunday the Runaways Band will be performing (60’s Soul, Disco & Classic Rock covers with a powerful female vocalist) mainly after the Sprint Dinner is finished around 8:30. Please come and join us.
Please be aware that due to this weekends Sprint 15 Nationals (60 boats entries) the normal club car parking will move to the next council green field. Access is still via the Dinghy Park Entrance and then once in the main field a diagonal track to the gap taking you through the fence. Please refer to this picture for more details.
