Sandhopper T Shirts for 2022

Published by under Sandhoppers

Hi All, I have put together a new Sandhopper T Shirt for this year. if you want to amend it to have your boat name on it, just add to your basket, go into edit and you can change what ever you like. (Remember to delete the original purchase from your basket otherwise you will end up with two!) You can also change the T shirt basis from Mens to Womens or the Style or make a Jumper… Its up to you.. Its easier or a tablet or pc/mac rather than a phone as the text is a little small!

Adult Sailing Support Sessions for Beginners at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club, Supported by the Sandhopper Fleet

We have now concluded the Adult Sailing Support Sessions for the Winter as we now have changed seasons and will be out on the water. All of the sessions were recorded and the packs are now available to download. We will be continuing our support of Beginner Adults, but will be taking a break for a couple of weeks to gather our thoughts and plans.

Please note: these sessions are not formal training. They are sharing of experiences from the Sandhopper Fleet as well as many other sailors from the Club, we are not qualified coaches. For formal training we suggest that you approach the RYA or other qualified coaches.

Below you will see the details of what subjects were covered in Q1 2022, these were recorded on Zoom (now on You tube) and the slide packs have been made available with the original links to reference material and videos used. The sound quality varies, but the packs and links in the slides should help.

Session 1

Club Induction, different boats at TBYC, Basics – Parts of a boat, Port/Starboard

Slide Pack

Session 2

Points of Sailing, launching a Laser, returning to shore, boat control – tacking & stopping

Slide Pack

Session 3

Get your Sandhoppers ready for the the Final Fling at TBYC ……. Sunday 10th October at 13:00

Published by under Sandhoppers

It’s that time of year again and I’m pleased to say that despite needing a reminder from Phil as we seemed to have omit it from the calendar, we have scheduled the Final Fling race for Sunday 10th of October, starting at 13:00.

It would be great to go out this year with a bang and have as many of our fantastic boats competing in the final race of the year.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you get out on the water. Also Primo is available and ready to go if anyone would like to use it!
