Just a reminder that Leigh-on-Sea Sailing Club are running their Brass Monkey race this Sunday starting at 2:00pm. Due to the late notification and in the interests of fairness, the Sailing Committee have decided that no concessions (e.g. avg points) will be available to entrants.
Links to the sailing instructions and entry form are available on an earlier posting.

Thorpe Bays YC, Kyle Stoneham is currently enjoying the sun in Bermuda, whilst he races in the International Moth Regatta that is taking place.
Even though racing was cancelled for a day due to strong winds, some of the competitors went sailing in Hamilton Harbour, so they decided to run some speed trials, with Kyle completing the one minute course in top slot. Well done Kyle.

John Charles of Leigh-on-Sea Sailing Club has been kind enough to contact me and point out that their Brass Monkey race will take place on Sunday December 18th, 2 – 4pm. This is a correction to the 27th December, which may have been published in some of our sailing programmes.
TBYC have a proud history of attending this event and taking away their brassware. Indeed I believe it’s Darren Fitchew’s turn to polish the monkey and return it in time for this event. Sailing instructions and the entry form are available via the links below: –

The most notable change is a requirement to use boards instead of flags for the start sequence.

Many of us use different weather Apps for our Smartphones but I came across this the other day and thought you maybe interested. Windfinder supply weather station equipment which feeds readings into Windguru which is already popular with many of us.
So without surprise the forecasts on the Windfinder App are the same as Windguru. Initially however the
App shows a summary screen with different stations (that you select) either with the forecast or a report if a real weather station (this is the case with Thames Estuary Yacht Club which has and uses the Windfinder kit and can be added). Overall the main screens seem easy to read.
From the Screen image on the right you can see that it gives most of the usual information but also shows the state of the tides and the expected height and timing of the swell. I haven’t seen that before in a weather app.

It isn’t normal to advertise a commercial service on this website. However Dry Suit arm neck seal and sock repair is something you normally have to travel far to get done, although many may not realise the service is available in Southend just near the football ground.
They don’t really sell anything that we would want to buy (diving not sailing), however they do the repairs that we probably now need at this time of the year.
