It seems to have slipped eveyones attention that Allen Burrell has yet again won the UK Finn Masters.
It only came to light in a totally unrelated conversation in the dinghy park at the weekend, when he quietly mentioned he had collected another national tittle in his travels.
Congratulations Allen, and in future, please dont keep this sort of information to yourself.
Gordon Sanders.

A very well done to Howard Hawkes who in his sprint (yes I know) won the race on sunday, with no wind to start just rain and 44mph half way round it was a very exciting race, once again the sandhopper fleet out numbered all the other classes with Zues sailed by Rupert Snow taking first amongst the sandhoppers, this is ruperts first win of the season and im sure his improved performance was down to the training session we held in the morning thanks to Peter Thompson. Alex Farrell was the star of the day helming Apollo surviving multiple knockdowns and still managing second place. Chris Clark put in a very disappointing show in sandstorm with third position, but it is thanks to his tuition with Alex over the last two years that the pupil has started to beat his master, i’m sure as he gets older he will also be able to out drink you chris?

Dear All,
Having had a discussion with Barry last night I recomended this site for self testing.
I thought that it might be useful to anybody interested in taking courses.
There are great tests for IRPCS (International Regulations for Prevention of Collisions at Sea.) Including identifying Vessel Lights.
I have used the site extensively for Day Skipper Training and found it invaluable.
Maybe a permanent Link can be made?
Regards,
Wayne.
P.S for those doing CEVNI There are two self tests here. http://www.sailtrain.co.uk/cevni/index.htm Scroll down. (2nd Test is “Next Exercise” and includes lights) Good Luck.

great fun race yesterday and fantastic to see so many cadets taking part in the windy conditions, the sandhoppers were out in force with Nemesis taking first place in our class, well done Paul and Toby.
I would like to point out that one of the sandhoppers was taking part in a different race, Sand Star helmed by our commodore and crewed by a man with his own fleet of boats thought it was the Queenborough race and headed for the kent shore, yes messers saunders and Hopper made a massive school boy error and went the wrong way, to make matters worse, upon rejoining the pursuit race all be it a country mile behind, they decided to retire and go fo an early bath.
with all the experience that hopper has sailing around the Uk and the commodore who has just returned from a sailing holiday in Greece, you would expect them to be able to navigate to mark Y.
next time boys follow the cadets, they seem to have better idea of where to go.
Fellow members, when you see either Steve or Gordon dont forget to talk to them about their school boy error.

RobinI seem to have left TBYC without one of my boots yesterday evening. Identifying features – wet and smelly. Any information leading to its recovery much appreciated.
