RACE OFFICER / ASSISTANT RO TRAINING NIGHT
WEDNESDAY 18th MAY at 8pm
Alan Willis is running his popular training session on how to be a Race Officer next Wednesday 18th May at TBYC club main bar.
The night will focus on Setting the Start Line and Setting the Course but will also cover everything you need to know on how to run a race and have lots of tips on stress free race management plus an opportunity to ask questions!
If you are RO or ARO this year – especially at the beginning of the season – now’s the time for experienced hands to brush up their knowledge and for new ROs to learn the ropes.
Even if you are not RO / ARO this year come along and learn how the starts work – it may help you get off the line better! And at least you will know what the flags actually mean….

Starting this Monday 16th, the midweek series recommences. Due to tides, there are only 8 races scheduled this year with 6 to count. With warm sunshine and light winds forecast, it’s an opportunity for the monohulls to steal an early lead.
The bar will be open for anyone wishing to watch the action from the balcony and after racing.

Think I left this somewhere near the Pico racks in the last couple of weeks – it’s in a fabric pouch with Gerber written on it.
Please call 07973 715522 if you’ve found it.
Many thanks, Dan

of everyone who uses Club premises and facilities are of paramount importance.
There have been some incidents recently where children have been quite boisterous in the club house and in the vicinity of the kitchen in particular. This does present safety issues which we must address.
Children playing and running around in the proximity of the kitchen and the pool table pose a very real risk of injury to a child or member of the kitchen staff. The club has a duty of care to all its members and those people employed by the club and for this reason we would ask that children do not play in the area immediately in front of the kitchen or around the pool table. The playing of ball games in the club house is prohibited (except table tennis and pool).
Parents and carers are reminded of the Parents Charter, a copy of which may be downloaded here:
http://www.tbyc.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Child-Protection-Parent-Charter.pdf
The charter points out that parents/carers always take the ultimate responsibility for their child/children and any other child left in their care. It is the sole responsibility of the parents to supervise their children whenever they are on the Club premises, surrounding areas and using the Club facilities.
