Missing from the dinghy park

Published by under Club Notices

Have you seen, or borrowed, recently a road trailer with a missing mud guard.  The owner can’t find this road trailer anywhere in the dinghy park, and would be grateful if anyone can shed light on where it is.  Contact [email protected]

Weather Station Webpage now is improved

Published by under Club Notices,Racing

I have included more information below our standard Weather Station display so hopefully the Weather Station page can be one of your main sources of information.

A partial display (limited due to the webpage size) of RNLI Pier Weather Station. This is updated every minute. Especially when we have northerly winds this may give us a true idea of the wind offshore. If this weather station is unavailable it will revert to show the nearest which is Southend Airport. Full display can be accessed from the RNLI Southend Website under Information.

Below the live information is forecast data both from the well loved Windguru and the Met Office.

Training at TBYC

Published by under Club Notices,Racing

The 2016 Sail Training dates have now been published on the “Sail Training” page available from the Sidebar or http://www.tbyc.org/sail-training/ . Full details of the requirements and dates are listed. Stage 1 starts in May and Stage 2 in April but please get you applications in early.

Unfortunately Southend Marine Activity Centre has closed therefore for the foreseeable future it is assumed that our and other Yacht Clubs will be the main locations to complete courses. So it is a good opportunity for us to remind you we do hold other courses that may also be of interest, many tutored by volunteers to keep the cost down.

We usually hold two RYA Power Boat Level 2 courses a year. These courses are always oversubscribed so just requesting a place does not guarantee entry. Priority is usually then given to those members that will be actively operating the club RIBS. If you are interested please email Ken at [email protected] .

First Aid courses are also organised at the club with an external organisation and these are advertised when they happen (although there is one happening on the 20th February). For more information email [email protected] .

Election of first female Commodore at TBYC

Thorpe Bay Yacht Club is delighted to announce the election of the first female Commodore in the Club’s sixty seven-year history. Beverly Warrington took office following the AGM at the Club on Sunday.

In a brief acceptance speech Beverly said “I very much look forward to being your new Commodore and I am very proud to be the 1st woman to take on this position. I am looking forward to working with the new Committee. I am sure that together we can take the Club forward and make being a member of the club and being a member of the committee something to be proud of. Thank you for all attending (the AGM) and thank you to Mike Thomason and his committee for their dedication to the club and countless hours spent behind the scenes.”
