Missing Radios and keys

Published by under Club Notices

In preparing for this weekend’s races, we’ve been unable to locate the keys for SS7 and the handheld radios. It is vital that we recover this equipment soonest as it’s absence puts the weekend’s events into jeopardy. For example SS7 is blocking the other ribs and will prevent them being launched. If you have any of these items, please return them to the club asap.

With Thanks
Rear Commodore Racing.

NOTICE ON BEHALF OF RACE COMMITTEE FOR SANDHOPPER NATIONALS 2016 CREW SUBSTITUTIONS

  1. Regarding crew substitutions, the Race Committee is aware that in some cases crew may not be available on all three days due to work commitments. At the same time we are conscious of the risk of suspicion that crew is varied to suit weather conditions.
  1. For these reasons we are giving notice that there will be a cut-off date for substitution requests due to non-availability of crew. Such requests must be received no later than noon on Friday 12th This date is chosen to give helms time to confirm their crewing arrangements, whilst being far enough ahead that the weather cannot be reliably predicted.
  1. Of course the default arrangement should be that the same crew is used throughout the meeting, but if you know you will have to substitute due to non-availability a request should be submitted to the Race Officer, [email protected] no later than noon on Friday 12th August. Please state the reason the substitution is needed and the names of crew.
  1. Substitutions requested after this cut-off will be dealt with in the normal way, taking due account of the reasons.

If you have any questions regarding the event please contact Mark Robinson on 07957 801 099 or [email protected]

Lost Sprint 15 Downhaul

Published by under Catamarans,Club Notices

Dart_15_Performance_Downhaul235

Last Sunday after finishing the Sprint 15 Open, I unfortunately misplaced my Downhaul.

It was on the boat when I took the sail down, therefore I lost it somewhere between the beach and the dinghy park.

If you found it I would appreciate if you would let me know as it is a surprisingly expensive part and required to sail the boat.

It is very similar to the one in the attach photo.

Thanks. Paul Morgan 07741 201052.

The Chimney is still there

Published by under Club Notices

Last week the final building at the Grain Power station was demolished leaving the way to start the next stage to bring the Chimney down. You can read more and see the video at Kent Online another demolition at power station/ . In the video the main demolishing starts around 50 seconds.

The comments in the above article also suggest that the Chimney maybe seeing its end in September.

Has your phone been soaked ? Reviveaphone may help

Published by under Club Notices

reviveaphone-repair-kits

We have often heard that people have dropped their phones in the water and generally being at weekends, nothing can be done. So we now have a Reviveaphone kit that is available if required for £18 (our purchase cost was £15+P&P) behind the bar.

There are similar kits but Reviveaphone seems to be the best known. The key thing is if the phone is damaged in water then do not power it up, do not charge it, remove the battery (if you can, iphones are sealed in the phone) and then use the kit, full instructions can be read by clicking on the image.

This has not been tested by the club and so therefore we do not take any responsibility in using the kit.
