As from 7am on Friday 24th May the boat park main gates will be not be available for vehicular access due to the RS Feva Nationals which are being held at TBYC. Access to all parking areas will be via the public car park gate to the east of the club. Vehicular access will revert to normal at 5pm on Tuesday 28th May.
The car park around the club building will also be closed for the erection of a Marquee with catering and camping to the rear.
We are sorry for Any inconvenience this may cause but due to the large amount of young sailors we will be expecting this weekend , it is imperative that we create a car free zone to ensure the safety of all members and guests.
Derek’s talks on navigation have proved to be very popular, so he will be giving the third one on Thursday 23rd May at 7pm. It is intended for year 7 cadets, and above, and will last for about 45 minutes. It’s looking likely that there will be a cruise to Queenborough, for those cadets who have attended, to practise what they have learned.
Missed the meeting on Sunday 14th April, more helpers still required, talk to Nick or Martin for more information or pass your name directly to [email protected] . We need you for our biggest ever event.
This year the club is to hold the Feva Nationals on the end of May Bank Holiday. This event will likely attract 100 plus boats of a national junior class. We would love to see some of our cadets take part in this event and if anyone is interested in helming or crewing to please contact me directly.
My plea today is for helpers for this event. Like cadet week we will have a large number of children and adults at the club. A number of people have come forward already but we would welcome some more to carry this event off as a success.
This will probably be the largest junior open event the club has ever seen. Your help will be very much appreciated.
Easter is soon and I am looking for a crew for this weekend. My normal crew (Sue) is on holiday then so if any body would like to crew in the front end of a National 12 please give me a call on 01702 205297 . Are any of the cadets interested in the National 12? Its a bit more interesting than a Pico. Check out the YouTube link of the N12 championships last year.
At about 2:10 in to the video there is a shot of me surviving a gybe only to go in to a tack straight afterwards. I was the only N12 not to capsize at last years championships and one of only 13 to complete every race. That was one nasty windy event.
We have been in discussions with Abi Davies at Burnham Sailing Club regarding holding a winter Feva training session at TBYC on 6th and 7th April, with John Lewis.
They would like all our TBYC Feva sailors to join in with the training.
We have agreed that all boats will be launch and clear of the slipway by 8am on the Saturday and 9am on the Sunday, so as not to interfere with the club racing on either day.
We have offered the use of Swindon rib for support and they may be bringing their own rib as well, which will be left in the car park with the Fevas overnight on the Saturday.
They will be having lunch on both days, and will be using the sail training room for debriefs on both days.
This would be a great opportunity for our Feva sailors to not only get some great training experience, but to also race against other Feva sailors prior to their National Championships in late May at TBYC.
If any other cadet members are interested in Feva training Please contact us. We currently have four TBYC boats on this event – it would be good to get more.
