Cadets and Parents, Last training before Cadet Week. All sailors welcome!

Session plan, as below:
session subject to changes depending on conditions, number of boats and sailors, level of experience of sailors …

Short briefing:
Stay in the sailing area, very strictly! No pleasure sailing off to the Maldives! Watch me, you need to see what is going on.

Discussion:
All Olympians use dagger grip of tiller extension, why? double handed sheeting, swapping hands when tacking
Explaining the drills on the grass – walking the course

Main Topic:
climbing the ladder – upwind …. Secondary topic: tacking

Course:
start line, 3 windward marks, short course

Check your boat set up, before launching!
YouTube Channel: TBYCPicofleet Look at the video: Top tips for the race

Launch when I wave from the cadet RIB, not before! sail around Stingray marks, tight circle

Follow my leader, sailing out to the course, tack on the whistle

Warm up: sail around the triangular course: first windward mark and start line, equilateral triangle, tight rounding

Stop – Start drill, when sailing around triangular course:
Stop on the whistle, head to wind, Whistle blown again: start sailing: grab boom, pull it towards you to bear away, get going

Rabbit starts, no count down.
Rabbit start: you all approach the start line from starboard (be far right and behind the start line).
I am approaching with the cadet RIB from port (far left and behind the start line)
I will give a repeated short whistles followed by a long whistle to signal that I have started to approach the start line.
I am the rabbit (cadet RIB), chase me!
You must not cross the start line before me. You must go after me, must not get in front of me.
I may appoint you to sail as a rabbit later – as a reward

Practice races with rabbit starts.
Course: sail upwind to get to the first windward mark, then to the second windward mark, then round the third windward mark (on port), Sail back, sail through the start line to finish.
One lap only.

Man over board drill with sponges:
Drop your sponge into the water, Sail on beam reach for a while, Keep an eye on your sponge! Tack
Bear away short and then aim for the sponge! Slow down, do not run over the “sponge over board”!
Look at the video “come to the coach boat”, similar technique.

Please, tell me if you are coming ! Also, please, tell me if you can’t make it this time.
Parents, please, tell me if you are available

See you on the water: Andras
