Training session for cadets 28 May Saturday 9:45

Published by under Cadets

This Saturday 28 May 2022 there will be a training session for cadets.
Briefing at the beach 9:45, going afloat at 10:00.
Safety: two RIBs with me and Mark
We need further safety crew parents, getting marks out, and help at the beach for launching and recovery

This session is not suitable for sailors who have never sailed before.
Minimium age is 8

Primary targets are sailors wishing to improve their tacking and basic upwind skills.
Sailing single handed if possible (not much benefit for the crew in these sessions).
Those who have been on the water a few times already, but not competent or not brilliant in sailing a triangular course. No racing experience, or little racing experience with lack of confidence.

As resources are limited, It is essential that you let me know if your sailor is coming.
For safety reasons the group has limitations. Your sailor may be asked not to come out if the numbers are unsafe. If I know in advance, we might organise do two sessions consecutively.

Slipway Usage Protocol

Published by under Club Notices

With the fantastic turnouts this year, especially with seeing many new cadet sailors joining the main racing, we have become a victim of our own success. Namely, congestion on the slipway.

We don’t want anyone to feel that they are compromised in trying to launch but at the same time it must be understood that it is free to use by any member of TBYC.

If members could follow these guidelines then I’m sure it will make it easier for all.

RYA Stage 2 Success

Published by under Club Notices

Congratulations to Isla, Roxy, Amelie, Harrison, Grace and Sophie for successfully completing their RYA Stage 2 dinghy sailing course held at the club on 14th and 15th May.

This is our first ever in house RYA sailing course organised by the club so well done to all those who have made it possible by ensuring we received our RYA accreditation for sailing courses which is not easily achieved.

Also thank you to our instructors for the weekend  Sam, Louise, Ellie and Nick and over seen by our Chief Sailing instructor Adam.
