Congratulations to Millie and Vicky, Teddy and Henry, Harry and Olivia (RS Feva) and Sam and Jacob (Sprint 15) representing TBYC; for winning the 2014 Inter-Club CADET Team Race.
They all showed consistency and perseverance through-out the race, starting well and battling around an exciting short course five times to take 1st, 3rd and 4th place. It was clear that our TBYC squad were on top form as they rounded the Windward Mark and hoisted their spinnakers.
As the race continued it was becoming apparent that Essex YC had a rather talented pair, also in a RS Feva and they were maintaining the lead. However, on the final reach the ‘Little’s’ overtook them, securing first place. Only seconds behind were our other Fevas, taking the overall competition.

What an achievement and an adventure, sailing to Leigh Sailing Club, being on the line at the start with 58 other boats, WINNING and finally sailing back around the pier for a second time; Well done to all!

Barts Bash, Sunday 21st, 10am start
In order to comply with the Guinness world record attempt, we need your help.
We are short of one or two people to take photos and video the start and finish from the Committee Boat. There role is outlines below.
- Video of the event. We need to ensure that the start and finish of the race is recorded by video. You do not need to record the whole race.
- Take photos of the event, preferably of the start line where the boats are massed. If possible for publicity, a group shot (or shots) on land would be fantastic with your club flag in front of the group etc.
We need two independent witnesses (must be non members and not family members of anyone racing) They will need to be on the rib while it measures the course using GPS, then witness the race start, recording of results and the finish from the Committee boat. Do you know anyone?
- All clubs wishing to enter the Guinness world record attempt MUST have 2 independent witnesses. We will provide statements for them to sign. These signed statements will be required following the event.
- Independent witnesses cannot be members of the club and cannot be linked to the race in any way. i.e. family taking part in the race.

On a beautiful early evening last Friday, it was noticed that SS2 was rather ‘squat’ in the water. Comparing her with SS3, which is hidden behind the Bosun’s Hut, it was clear she was sinking. Without hesitation and despite being in fine Friday night attire, Jeremy Sandford and Toby Speller grabbed some oars and headed off. Peter Thompson saw what was going on and joined them – rowing out to bail the boat out and find that a disused cooling pipe was drawing water in. We must thank the guys for their swift actions as SS2 would have been swamped by the next morning’s tide.

Has anyone found a blue and white flowered beach towel? It was left in the gent’s changing room on Friday 1st August and may have been stuffed into a bag and taken home by mistake. As the towel was borrowed, the borrower would very much like to return it to its owner. If found in your cadet’s bag, please would you return the towel to the club.

I have lost my Safety Bag, which I use during RS Feva and Team Racing training. Last seen Friday 18th July.
It is a Black Gill 10 L Dry bag with ‘Nick Alston’ and Safety Bag’ written on it. It contains everything you need to help ensure the youngster’s safety.
Any information on its whereabouts would be most appreciated.
Thank you, Nick – [email protected] 07815113459

The Sprints have been putting together their main list of helpers. However we will require as many volunteers as we can for help on the Beach and in the Car Park and hope that we can enlist that from all the members. Please could you let us know if you can help by emailing us on [email protected] or by adding your name to the list at the bar and letting us know when you would be available.
Help on the Beach will involve (this should all be dry, unless it rains)- helping sailors across the beach, collecting and retrieving trolleys all under the supervision of the Beach Master for the day. If you feel that you can’t handle a trolley alone, we will get you to pair up with somebody on the day to work as pairs. Launching and Retrieving will be Saturday (09:30-11:30, 15:00-16:30), Sunday (10:00-11:30, 15:30-17:00) and Monday (11:00-12:15, 14:30-16:00)
Help in the Car Park will involve giving an initial welcome note to people as they come in, unhooking their trailers, boats and moving them into the boat park, ensure they then park and camp in the allocated areas all under the supervision of the Parking Marshall for the day. This will take place Friday (16:00-23:00) and Saturday (06:00-12:00).
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance of volunteering.
Paul Morgan and Steve Healy (Sprint 15 Joint Captains)
