Have you seen the race officer’s horn?

Published by under Club Notices

As you all know, the race officer has a horn when he’s on the committee boat. He has a horn when he starts the races and when he finishes them. If he is on his own, he will hold the flags in one hand and his horn in the other. But when his wife is there, she will hold the horn for him.

He normally keeps his horn hidden in the cabin. The horn has wires with crocodile clips, which he attaches to a battery. When he’s finished, the horn is disconnected and is packed away, in a wooden box.

Unfortunately, the race officer has lost his horn. I’ve had a good search for it, but to no avail. If anybody has information as to its whereabouts, please could he/she inform a member of the sailing committee.

With thanks,

Andrew Hannah.

TBYC Christmas Party – Sat 12 Dec 2009

Published by under Club Notices,Social

Not sure if you have been down the club lately and seen the fliers.

There are still a few tickets left for the Christmas Party.

The booking form is on the reverse of the attachment if you would like to book a table.

If tickets are sold out then you could always join in for the entertainment after 9pm and they cost £10pp. The Zoltans are fun local jump-jive band and well worth seeing if you haven’t before http://www.zoltans.co.uk/

PRE-WINTER DINGHY PARK CLEAROUT

Published by under Club Notices

Hi All,

This weekend is the end of Season Trophy and with it comes the end of Season, which means all dinghies and catamarans and their ancilliaries (road trailers, windsurfers/kyaks/paddle boards or whatever else you hide under your boats) need to vacate the dinghy park this Sunday after racing.
The only exception to this is any Picos which are on and have paid for rack space over the winter by this wekeend (at the more than reasonable price of £30, cheques with pico number on the reverse accepted).
Boats which have entered the Winter series can return to the dinghy park once the cruisers and sandhoppers have moved in for the winter.

A Thank You

Published by under Club Notices

Over the past couple of weeks we have been having problems with one of the displacement boats leaking fuel. When it was realised what was happening, three people, Mark Dell, Toby Speller and Peter Thompson set about removing and repairing the fuel tank and then refitting over a few evenings last week, all in time for the weekends 9’er Open Meeting. On behalf of all TBYC members,  “Thank you and well done guys”.

Slipway Nears Completion 24th June

Published by under Club Notices

I was clearing out the Bosun’s Hut this morning with Mike Thomason.

At ten o’clock we broke off to watch the last concrete plank be lifted off the beach and fixed in position at the foot of the slipway.

It was an honour for me to be there with Mike to witness it, for it  is an accumulation of five years work for him.

All members current and future owe him a debt of gratitude for the way he has led the project which is a lasting legacy to the club.

From all the  membership.     Thank you Mike.
