Five children from TBYC entered the Cadet Nationals in Torquay last week. GBR 8541 Alex Warrington & Laura Lloyd (sailing in her last event due to age) finished in 24th place. GBR 9029 Matthew & Katy Lloyd finished one point behind 8541 but due to count back their place was 26th. Ben Warrington crewing for Katherine Selfe from Stone Sailing Club in 7280 came 47th. It was an excellent event with 73 boats taking part – that’s 146 inspired young people on the water in 10 very competitive races over the course of the week. The event was won by Nick Sutton & Josh Bennett in 8844 from Corinthian Otters at RCYC Burnham. For more information on the UK Cadet Class please speak to Howard Warrington, myself or see http://www.cadetclass.org.uk

The General Committee at TBYC would like to invite you to a new members evening at the Clubhouse on Thursday 16th August from 19:30 onwards.
As this is our regular cadet night the evening will be completely informal, but will give you a chance to meet other adult members and cadets.
The Commodore and some members of the General Committee will be there to welcome you and help with any queries that you may have regarding the Club facilities etc.
You are probably already involved with the sailing activities at the Club, but, if not, this will be a great opportunity to get acquainted with other members and cadets before cadet week begins.
For those of you who are novice sailors, or who have not started sailing yet, we hope to have a Pico in the dinghy park to demonstrate how to rig our Club’s favourite cadet boat.
Whether you are an active sailor or just enjoy watching the kids on the water we hope that you will come along and meet some like minded people.
I would appreciate it if you would let me know if you can attend the evening. My phone number and e-mail address are on the back of the sailing programme.

Dear All TOP Series Cadets
Just a reminder that the T.O.P’s summer series starts this Saturday 23rd June at 14:20.
This is a revision from the club programme as the race was originally scheduled for the Sunday so please disregard this and take it as my calendar list of races.
A coaching talk will go ahead this Saturday before racing at 13:00 up in the Commodores Bar.
The long range forecast is looking good at the moment with 13mph winds and sunny.
Hope to see you there

Great result for the TBYC Cadet boats at the recent Cadet Class Association world team selector event at the Royal Corinthian, Burnham. Matthew Lloyd/Katy Lloyd were 3rd place in Silver Fleet, 20th overall. Alex Warrington/Laura Lloyd (Gold Fleet) came 10th overall. A total of 69 boats entered the competition. Conditions were challenging with a 20kt easterly wind and an ebbing tide for almost the whole time on the water on day one; wind against tide resulted in some big waves for the Crouch. With two world team selector events comprising a total of 12 races now complete Alex & Laura are 15th overall with the top ten boats being selected to represent the UK Class Association in the world championships in Hobart at Christmas. The remaining ten races for the selector series will take place at the Nationals in Torquay in August. We’re busy saving for Australia.

Dear all,
Following a review of the first few races of the Spring series, which resulted in races 1,2,3 & 4 being rerun on Sunday 27 May after the racing was postponed on the Saturday. The committee feel that some competitors may not have received sufficient notice of the changes.
We have therefore taken the decision that the Spring series will only count as being races 5&6 to be run on Saturday 9th June as indicated in the racing programme.
Some great racing took place on Sunday so this is therefore being treated as a miniseries and prizes are to be given to the top three boats which sailed in all four races.
Fun was had by all with plenty of practice starts in glorious sunshine. The top three boats of that miniseries were;
1. Sophie Boygle and Genevieve Bailey
2. Harry Boygle and Olivia Petty-Mayor
3. Amy Chapman
Well done to all who took part.
In future if a days racing has to be postponed then we will take the decision at the time whether to rerun the races on another day. Any decision made will be clearly given and notified on the club notice board, website and via e-mail.
Let’s hope this weather stays with us and continues for the Summer series.
