Well done to all those involved in organising and taking part in last week’s event. 141 children enjoyed the many and varied activities to full effect with the weather being brilliant all week.
A thank you to all the sponsors for their contributions who make it possible for us to offer the many and diverse activities including Adventure Island and Kids Kingdom. A special thank you to Wetsuit Outlet for the use of the paddle boards in the Stingray Group – a very useful teaching tool.
I look for ward to seeing many more of our cadets take part in club racing to further enhance their abilities.
A huge well done to all members who helped in any way.

Our local Scout Association wish to thank TBYC for putting on a fantastic sailing event on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th July which enabled 19 Cubs and Scouts to gain their water activity and challenge badges. Four races were held on each evening with 12 Picos challenging for the top spot over a short inshore course in ideal sailing conditions. Peter Snow was on peak form on Monday winning 3 races and John Williams pulled away from the fleet taking 3 wins on Tuesday.
My thanks to our band of volunteers who made this event a great success:
Jacob Allard, Sophie Boyge, Harry Boygle, Amy Chapman, Teddy Elmore, Michael Hodges, Tommy Holmes, Trevor Hughes, Harry Hughes, Laura Lloyd, Robyn Murdoch, Olivier Petty-Mayor, Peter Snow, Johnny Snow, Alex Thomason, John Williams and Linda and Rupert Snow for manning the support boat.

Fantastic news: Alex Warrington, over the Whitsun Bank Holiday, secured a place in the seven strong International Cadet World Team.
Alex Will be Flying the flag for both Thorpe Bay Yacht Club and Great Britain in the World event to be held in Nieuwport, Belgium during August 2013.
After a run of superb results in the Zhic world qualifying series Alex and his crew Ellie Wootton from Waldringfield SC, secured a third place in the Alf Simmonds Memorial Trophy weekend with a strong fleet of 55 entries held at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in Burnham-on-Crouch.
Commenting as he stepped ashore after the final race, Alex who has been racing Cadets for the last six years said: “It’s a great class and it has given me an opportunity to sail with my friends and enjoy really competitive racing. I have been training all winter and working my socks off, so I am really pleased to have made it into the team. The conditions here in Burnham were very challenging especially yesterday. There were plenty of wind bends and shifts and generally really tough conditions. Today was a lot better but we had to contend with the tide so it was still challenging. Our plan now is to get in the boat as much as we can and train hard because the entire squad is extremely competitive.
A Hearty congratulations from TBYC Alex – you are an inspiration the the cadets of this club
Good luck and good sailing in Belgium.

A huge thank you to all the club members who gave up their time to help run this event. We had over 50 members helping to run the sailing and on shore management.
The event attracted 92 boats from all over the Country with two boats attending from the Netherlands. In total we hosted over 350 parents and children.
Well done to the 5 Crews from the TBYC Feva Class – who all had a great time and did exceedingly well in this their first Nationals.
The RS Feva Class Association declared the event a total success with many more compliments from parents of visitors.
A proud moment in time for Thorpe Bay Yacht Club.

Good Luck to the TBYC Cadets this weekend at Burnham.
The 3rd and last selector to decide the “GBR Cadet Class World Team” takes place on the Crouch. They have had one event at Rutland which was becalmed and only one race completed. The 2nd was in Poole Harbour which was windy and challenging conditions. Alex Warrington and Ellie Wootton, his crew from Waldringfield SC, came a close 2nd missing out winning by 1 point and currently lying 2nd overall in the selector series.
This weekend will also see Matt and Katie Lloyd and Ben Warrington crewing for Stone SC’s Katherine Selfe fight it out to get themselves up the leader board.
