After a weekend off with no racing, we are back to are usual busy program this weekend, the last racing weekend before the End of Season Trophy on the 19th.

On Sunday there is an extra addition in the calendar with 2 different races scheduled. This is a printing error and Sundays Race is the Autumn Access trophy, 12pm start. The Autumn Points series finished on the 22nd September.

I would just like to introduce myself, I have been active in the sail training and cadet weeks for a number of years. I was asked to consider representing the TOPs in the coming year. It didn’t take me too long to decide that I would love the opportunity. The TOPs offers a great start for those wanting to get into racing, or those wanting to challenge themselves to sail better. I am really looking forward to the last 4 races of the season and the new season in 2014.
I want to thank Johnno for his work with the TOPs. My goal is to build on that great start and get more of the fleet participating regularly.
I would like to remind you that there is some great racing for the Teras, Optimists and Picos arranged for this Saturday 12.20.
The weather is going to be warm and a nice light breeze from the West.
If you have not managed to get to any of the TOPs races, please don’t let that put you off. The series offers a fun and relaxed entry into racing. We keep the course simple and the races short.
The sailing is best enjoyed in one of the main classes, however boats such as a Mirror are welcome to participate.
Remember this is not just for the kids, adults are always welcome.
If you would like to join in but do not have a crew/helm I am happy to start a register and get people sailing together, just contact me.
As Johnno stated earlier in the week, there will be a special course set from a start boat. We will try to give a briefing in good time for you to get afloat.
After a successful event at the Cadet World Championships, Alex Warrington and Ellie Wootton in 8541 “Stress” came home in the World Team Fleet a creditable 12th place. They managed to win the first race of the event which set them up well for a challenging championships in tough conditions.
The TBYC teams are now preparing for the National Championships in Abersoch starting this weekend. Alex and Ellie will be joined by TBYC team of Matt and Katy Lloyd in 9029 “Freestyle” and Stone/TBYC pairing of Kat Selfe and Ben Warrington sailing 7280 “Predator”.
Wish them luck and follow their progress on Twitter – @GBRCadets or Facebook – GBR Cadet.
Opportunity to buy an ex squad boat with a good racing record. One owner from new, not your average cadet beach toy. Has been an out-and-out racer from new and maintained accordingly.
Fast and fully race prepared; tapered sheets, Ronstan mainsheet ratchet block, auto ratchet spinnaker blocks and kicker, Harken and Ronstan throughout the rest of the boat with various aspects revised and improved over standard.
Very good foils, modern snug-fitting centerboard case fitted, wing nut on rudder stock modified for exceptionally easy tightening, carbon tiller extension. Minor chip to rear of rudder blade (pictured) easily fixed in an afternoon.
Weighed to settle an argument between friends a few years back; boat was around 20kgs lighter than number 2000 all up and they’ve only been built heavier since. Despite the age and low weight, the hull remains solid and is in very good condition with only a very minor dent to the hull, courtesy of an Irish kid who didn’t understand start lines. (pictured, way above waterline so no effect on performance) More watertight than most boats RS have made, too! Continue Reading »
Following on from a very successful cadet week, I am pleased to say that the Photo CD’s with 1000 images on, are now available from behind the bar. If you have pre ordered and paid for a copy then you can collect it from the bar, but don’t worry if you have not ordered a copy, as you can buy one from the bar for just £10.00.
Many thanks to all those members who contributed to this disc
