In a precursor to the UK Nationals & Cadet World Championships in Weymouth next month Alex Warrington & Anna Wootton (Waldringfield SC) have this afternoon won the Belgium Cadet Nationals held during the 2014 Flanders Youth Regatta.
This is the first time the Cup has left Belgium. Team GBRCadets actually came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Belgium Nationals which hopefully bodes well for the Worlds in a few weeks.

The standard of racing was extremely high at this year’s BSDRA Thames Valley Team Racing Championships at Bray lake. There were 21 teams competing, aged between 12 and 18 in a total of 106 races on Saturday 7th June. During the first set of races the teams are seeded into four divisions, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Novices. Our young TBYC team won enough races to be placed in the Bronze division, which was an achievement in itself. |
| They continued to communicate and sail well as a team, and considering their overall age, their sailing was impressive, against much older sailors. They performed a number of Pass-backs, Mark traps and Pinning maneuvers and were determined right to the end. It may have been a most daunting experience at times, but they achieved a pleasing =12th place out of 21 teams. They were awarded the Best Newcomers’ Cup! |

Congratulations to Alex Warrington and Anna Wootton (crew, Waldringfield SC). Yesterday at Stone SC they were selected as part of the UK Cadet Class World Team.
The selection series consisted of 18 races at three events – Datchet, Weymouth & Stone. More details at cadetclass.org.uk

On Thursday 15th May Cadets can visit our local Coastguard Station. Meet at the Club at 19.15 hrs to accompany Mark to the Shoebury lookout station. You should be back at about 21.00 hrs.
