I am delighted to welcome Howard Fruin, a long time member of the club, to the role of Kitchen Manager. Howard joins us from the kitchen at Billy Hundred’s along the seafront and is employed directly by the club. Howard starts work today cleaning and organising the kitchen. The kitchen will remain closed until at least Thursday lunchtime – more details to follow, watch this space.

Working with Howard, we have big plans as to how we can transform the kitchen and the catering experience delivered by the club but please remember Rome wasn’t built in a day.

In preparation for the Christmas Ball the Main Bar will close at 2pm on Saturday 9th December. The Commodore Bar will be open until 4.00pm

The time has come for change to the catering provided at TBYC. We are moving away from operating the kitchen under a franchise agreement to a model where we employ and manage the staff in-house. This will offer greater flexibility in terms of menu selection and opening hours.

On behalf of the General Committee and the wider club I would like to say thank you to Dave Dowson for running the kitchen for the last two sailing seasons. Dave will be with us for another two months during which time we will look to hire a catering manager and related staff. We hope to have the new system in place as soon as possible to prevent any break in service.

Nick Cotgrove keeps a pair of oars under his Dart 16 (yellow hulls).  The oars have been borrowed. If you used them, would you return them to Nick’s catamaran, please.

If you need oars, each club tender has a pair.

Unfortunately this weeks Friday Cadet activities will need to be cancelled due to a booking clash at TBYC. It is also the Nore Race Prizegiving with BBQ should you wish to attend Benfleet YC. We will attempt to re schedule at a later date.

Welcome to the first TBYC Fast cat open, for Tornado’s, Hurricanes, F18’s and A-Class this weekend. Please register in club bar between 8-10am, breakfast will be available from 8:30am, first start is 12:30pm with three races back to back. The kitchen will be providing a BBQ after racing from 6:30pm, extra tickets for family members can be purchase at registration time and a comedian is booked from 8pm, club members welcome to join in the fun.

During the fast cat open next weekend there will be a comedian playing from 7:45pm on Saturday 10th.

Over the Regatta weekend we will be holding another beer festival. The last one we held in March was hugely successful.

We will have two extra beers from St George’s Brewery in Wakering and two beers from Greene King.

Come and join us – starts Thursday evening and lasts until the beer runs out!
