Morning Sailors,
Conditions permitting, today’s scheduled race is the Yantlet Trophy.
The course will be set by the Race officer and drawn on the blackboard at the top of the slipway.
Rounding the Yantlet Beacon will be replace with an orange cylindrical “special” buoy to port, as it has been in recent previous editions of the race.
I wanted to draw your attention to the Sailing instructions: 7. Classes or Fleets. Here it states that for a mass start we will use flag R, and that for the Nore Race and Benfleet Shield, the Windward Leeward Class will start as published + 30 mins. This year the start is scheduled for 13.00, making the W/L class start 13.30.
Hang on to your hats!

TBYC SI 2025 – June edition
Thank you to Phil Crawford who has taken the time to review this years sailing instructions. Phil suggest some amendments for clarity and consistency of the SIs that control how we run our club racing at TBYC.
His suggestions and the existing SIs were discussed by your Sailing Committee and the appropriate amendments made. The new SIs are now on the Website, please take the time to read them before you race, Race officer or assist with any aspect of club racing.
If you have any questions, or need clarification, please contact your Class Captains for guidance.

Thorpe Bay Yacht Club runs on the energy and dedication of its members. From committees to maintenance teams, it’s the volunteers who help keep things running smoothly—and help keep membership costs down.
Right now, we’re looking for members with specific skills to support a few key projects:
New Website
We’re planning to rebuild the club’s website over the next year. To get it right, we need someone who can help manage the process—from shaping how it looks and functions, to keeping the content fresh and useful. If you’ve got experience in websites or digital communication, we’d love to hear from you. Estimated time required – 2 hours per week for 10 weeks – Post Website launch 1 hour per week
Branding
Alongside the new website, we’re thinking it’s time to review how the club presents itself. From the logo and colours to the tone of our communications, we want a consistent image that reflects who we are. If branding or design is in your wheelhouse, your input could really help shape how we come across to both members and visitors. – Estimated time required – 1 hour per week for 6 weeks
Press Officer
We’d also like to find someone who can help us share club news and stories with the local press and beyond. It’s a great chance to help raise our profile and celebrate what we do. Estimated time required – 1 hour per week – Ongoing
It should be noted that none of the above positions, require you to attend any committee meetings
If you can help with any of these, or want to find out more, please get in touch. You’d be making a real difference to the future of the club.
Thanks,
