Watersports
TBYC offers convenient access to the estuary for many other watersports. Club members are often seen windsurfing, wind-foiling, wing-foiling, paddleboarding, kayaking and swimming. These sports run on an informal and personal basis, but there is plenty of experience within the club to support those wishing to learn more. If interested, you will often find a group of windsurfers in wetsuits gathered on, or near, the TBYC slip when the wind is up, and the dinghy sailors have cancelled racing for the day. On calmer summer days, families are often seen enjoying the water on a variety of paddleboards, kayaks and the like.
Kitesurfing is restricted in the area, however there is good launching locally at East-Beach and The Coastguard Station slipway.
No club storage is available for these sports so kit needs to be brought from home. However, the club car park provides an excellent grassy rigging area. The sailing area in front of the clubhouse has an extremely flat bottom profile beyond the moorings and at neap tides can be an outstanding playground for all manner of sports including wing/wind foiling.
