Welcome to Thorpe Bay Yacht Club
Thorpe Bay Yacht Club is a friendly club offering a year-round programme of cruising, racing, training and social events for all ages. The Club benefits from a beautiful estuary location with a large clubhouse which is a perfect place to relax and meet new friends. TBYC is sited overlooking the estuary with convenient access from the Club offering the ideal environment for those learning to sail and an attractive area for racing and cruising.
The Club offers a range of activities, including Racing, Cruising, Cadet Sailing and activities. Many members also use the excellent location as a base for wing foiling, canoeing, paddle boarding, windsurfing, open water swimming and a new addition to the club, model sail boat racing! The club also enjoys hosting both regional and national events each year. The location and offering of the Club attracts a wide variety of members from Essex, London, East Anglia and farther afield.
Membership and Opportunities
The Club offers a range of membership categories for families, individuals and cadets. Special rates are available to under 25s, over 65s and those that live 25 miles+ from the club.
No boat is necessary to join the Club. There are several club dinghies for members to book and use free of charge, and there are opportunities to crew with other members in all sections. Club members will be on hand to offer help and advice if you eventually decide to buy a boat of your own.
Social Events
As well as on-the-water activities, the Club hosts a wide range of social events including quizzes, bands/discos, parties and formal balls, wine tasting, beer festivals, and screenings of major sporting events. Do visit our What's On page for more information.
