Why Cruise from Thorpe Bay?

  • Maximum Sailing Time: Enjoy up to six hours afloat per tide—set off on the morning ebb and return on the afternoon flood. No waiting for the right wind direction; sail straight off your mooring!
  • Explore Iconic Destinations: Cruise across the Estuary to the WWII Forts, the Montgomery Wreck, and Mulberry Harbour. Embark on day sails to the River Medway, The Swale, Benfleet, or Leigh-on-Sea. Plan weekend getaways to Chatham, Burnham, Bradwell or Brightlingsea marinas.  With more time, take on longer adventures to the Rivers Deben and Ore, Southwold, or even across the North Sea to France, Belgium, and Netherlands.
  • Moorings: Enjoy the freedom of drying moorings, perfect for bilge and lifting keel yachts; giving you flexibility and convenience for your cruising adventures. Our club-run support boats are ready to help you get to and from your mooring during dinghy racing times, and outside those hours, club rowing dinghies are available for your use.
  • Prefer to get hands-on? You can walk out to your boat, clean off any weed or barnacles, and prepare for departure just in time for when you float, maximising every precious minute on the water.
  • Join the Racing Spirit: Cruisers can also participate in select club races, the Riverbank Trophy, and Interclub passage races, including the famous Nore Race.

Our moorings are reasonably priced and easy to maintain, making yacht ownership more accessible. Plus, your boat is always watched over from the clubhouse, giving you peace of mind whenever you're ashore.
