Easter Weekend Racing

Published by at 22:38 under Racing

The Spring Season starts this weekend, with 10-15mph winds and temperature touching 6c.

The Easter Weekend starts with the Sandhopper lift-in at 06:00, then the racing season commences with the Spencer cup on Friday – 11:30 start.

Spring Sat 1 on Saturday – 12:30 start, Spring Sun 1 – 14:00 start and finishing with the Easter Egg Race on Monday at 14:30.

Due to the poor weather, there are some essential pre season servicing and repair jobs on SS2, SS3 and SS4 that have been pushed to this weekend and mean that they will not be in service over Easter.

Our Racing Season will start as normal, but racing will be run from the Race box, with courses set on the blackboard using the old cub marks and Inflatables where necessary.  SS5 with the Elmore rib standing by will replace SS2 and SS3 rescue cover (thanks Nick).

SI for this season will be available on the website and noticeboard over the weekend.

Thank you to all those who have been working in tough conditions and continue to do so, maintaining and preparing all our clubs Rescue, Committee boat and club marks.

If you have time to help this week, please let me know, there are still some jobs to do, if not, enjoy the sailing, bar and food.

See you on the water.

New 2013 Sailing Instructions are available on the left hand link bar or at this link:

So are the SS2 and SS3 crews required?

Michael, having spoken to Jeremy Sandford earlier in the weekend, I believe all helms and crew are expected to attend as they will be required in the extra Ribs, although there maybe experienced Helms for Ribs swapped in.

I guess the best confirmation would be for you to check with the Duty Officer of your session as it is ultimately there decision to release people from duties.
