This boat is ideal as a step up from a Topaz or Pico, suits a wide age/ability/weight range, it is very good in sea or flat water. It can be rigged from mast down to sails up in about 30 minutes making it ideal if you need to tow the boat to the sea or lake. A simple and forgiving boat, that is lively and fun. It will also suit those wishing to get the family into sailing.
The hull is a Laser 2 without the spinnaker chute; the rig is similar to the Laser 2 with less power. The advantage is the rig can be de-powered easily by furling the jib and if really windy the main can be reefed.
The mast is two piece and fits within the length of the boat, when dismantled, this makes towing and storage easy.
The hull is in good condition and water tight, there are a few scratches on the underside and a couple of chips off the transom due to exuberant pulling on the trolley. A little gel coat filler will fix this.
The trolley fits on the road base and is made by Bramber, this is in good condition, but a little rust is showing through the galvanised finish. The road trailer is in very good condition.
Dagger board is in poor condition, the trailing edge has suffered from a few dinks, I am throwing in another old board that can be refurbished. Both boards are structurally sound and able to be used. Rudder is in good condition, tiller and extension are also straight.
Cover is a couple of years old and a little sun faded, can be used flat during the winter or mast up for the summer. Water tight and no holes.
Our club gave this boat a handicap of 1080, very similar to a Laser 1, this is reasonable, this boat is quicker up-wind but slower down-wind than a Laser.
