Update:
We are very pleased to confirm that we are doing a multi-channel approach to the Adult Sailing Support on the Thursday 13th January.
We were hoping to have the content of the course delivered primarily at TBYC in the Commodores bar, but due to the current Covid guidance and the desire to keep everyone as safe as possible we are going to deliver the opening event on Zoom.
However, if you want to be at the club, we will have a few tables set up with the Zoom call open on the screen in the Commodores Bar with Harry Floyd ‘in the room’ so to speak to give you the opportunity to choose how you want to be involved. Please let us know by email [email protected], if you would like to be in the bar and we will then make sure we can accommodate you.

The Zoom details are:
19:20 lines open – 19:30 start
Meeting ID: 495 929 3655
The account is in the name of Steve Hopper (Thanks to Steve for allowing us to use his account)
We will share a link to the saved recordings of the calls the day after the events in case you miss something!
There will be some slides, maybe a video or two and lots of sharing experiences, tips and will be looking for audience participation. We all know that Zoom has its limitations but hope we can deliver a content that allows us to get to know each other a little better and learn something new.
We do have a couple of questions in advance, if you could let us know by email to [email protected]
• Why do you want to learn how to sail?
• How long have you been a member a TBYC?
• What’s been stopping you and what’s your biggest fear (in relation to sailing)?
If you are happy to articulate these on the call yourself and if you don’t want us to share, please let us know.
We want these sessions to be fun, informative and to allow you to get to know a bit more about sailing, the club, the members, and what opportunities there are to get out on the water safely.
If you have any questions ahead of Thursday, please do let us know.
Kind regards,
Scott James, Tolga Kulahcigil, Harry Floyd, The rest of the Sandhopper Fleet and Club members that welcome you to the wonderful world of sailing.

Following such great interest in my Adult Sail Training post on FaceBook.  I along with members of the Sandhopper fleet and others will be offering Adult Sailing Support over the winter starting with a beginners on the 13th January. We are sharing our own experiences along with some materials that are putting together to help those that want to get an idea of the basics.
Please note that this is not an RYA accredited scheme, and we are not qualified coaches. If you wish to gain a qualification. We would suggest that you look towards the RYA Day Skipper or other RYA courses.
However, if you wish to take part in the Adult Sailing Support on Thursdays can you email [email protected] to confirm your interest.
This will also allow us to contact you to confirm how we will be delivering the sessions, especially considering any potential changes with Covid restrictions that may or may not come in.
** We will aim to run the sessions if we can in the club and on zoom at the same time, if rules and technology allow, so everyone that wants to participate can.
If you are a Facebook user please confirm your interest by clicking the below link as well as emailing.
