Congratulations to Scott James who was presented with the Gerald Mitcham Cup at our recent Club AGM. The annual trophy  was awarded to Scott for his dedication this year to both volunteering at the club and  for his enthusiasm in promoting sailing to our members particularly in the Sandhopper class. Well done.

We need volunteers to help with support boat duties this Sunday please

If no one can do them unfortunately racing will be cancelled.

Please come and support the Winners of 2020 and 2021. Big efforts have been made to ensure a full season of sailing and all the trophy races sailed and competed for. Come and celebrate this with your fleets. Book for a Pie and Prizes.

We have assurances from the Council and Anglian Water that the sewerage discharge into the Thames stopped a few days ago. Whilst residue can still be seen, this will take some months of tide movements and beach cleaning to eradicate.

With this in mind I am pleased to say that Club Racing will resume this weekend.

Please be aware of you surroundings if launching from the beach and we would recommend that cadets capsize practice not to happen – far too cold now anyway.

I would also recommend that our cold water swimming fraternity stay in the swimming pools for the time being.

Angela sadly passed away having lost her fight against Alzheimer’s Dementia, surrounded by Brian, Jeremy and Tim.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, and for almost 20 years a teacher at Bournes Green Junior School, Angela had been a member at TBYC since joining with her family in 1988.

The funeral is on Wednesday 10th November at 12.40pm at Southend Crematorium (No black ties please) and afterwards at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club.

Family flowers only, but donations in her memory may be made to Peaceful Place, Southend, via aradams.co.uk/donate.
