The event everyone has been waiting for – TBYC’s Totally Tropical Caribbean night
From 6pm on Saturday July 24th
Caribbean BBQ includes: Jerk Chicken, bbq ribs, regga ribs, burgers topped with pineapple and cheese, corn on the cob, roasted vegatable couscous, beef tomatoes and red onions, mixed lettuce, homemade coleslaw, hot new potatoes and fruit platters. A rum punch bar will be set up on the balcony for that real Caribbean feel. Food will be served between 6pm – 8pm
Entertainment is being provided by the Big Sand Steel Band and there will also be Pinates and limbo for all those people feeling flexible.
Prizes will be awarded to the 2 best dressed adults and children.
All this and more for only £10 for adults and £8 for children up to the age of 13.
Tickets will be available behind the bar from tonight – get yours quick to avoid missing out on the event of the summer!
This is a ticket only event and for those not wanting food there will be entertainment tickets at a price of £5 per person

We will be hosting a fun/friendly pre World Cup 5 aside tournament on the green outside the club from 4pm tomorrow.
Everyone is welcome to get involved, the more the merrier!!!
there will be beer/soft drinks for the winning team.

June 25th – 27th is the Hurricane Nationals and Sprint Open at the club
On the Saturday night (June 26th) there will be a hog roast and comedian and everyone is welcome to join in the laughs. Tickets are £10 and can be bought from me or on the night.

In 2008, the Sprint 15 una-rig National Championships are being held at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club, in the warm waters of sunny Southend-on-Sea. It is a special year for the Sprints because 2008 is the 30th anniversary of the boat and it is also the 60th anniversary of Thorpe Bay Yacht Club.
We have every reason to celebrate. Not only do we have a versatile boat, we continue to have strength in numbers. Being such a significant anniversary, a big entry is in prospect. This is a fitting tribute to all those that have contributed to our growth over thirty years.
It is also fitting that Thorpe Bay is hosting these Nationals. TBYC has a fleet of 24 boats and has become a major club for Sprints. It is good to be recognised in this way, especially as there is going to be a high local entry.
A special programme of events has been planned, as you will see below. We are celebrating our 30th anniversary and encouraging the younger sailors to take part by offering free entry to Sprint 15 Association members who are under 23 and in full-time education provided they pre-enter.
