Well done to the magnificent seven who braved the howling winds at Seasalter last week, we had 18 – 38 mph winds on the first day, offshore with flat water, cat course, absolutely adrenalin fuelled thumping fun.
Especially well done to Martin Ellis for his 3rd place overall, to Howard Hawkes for his 3rd place on race 1 and also to Gary Burrows and Keith Persin for 6th and 7th on race 3 ( top end of F7).
All in all a great show by the Thorpe Bay Sprinters – well done to all!

It has been decided due to Cadet members taking part in the AYC Matt Trophy & the uncertain forecast that the beach BBQ due to be held Sat 16th July will be postponed.

A brief outline the Shoreline race, starting from the TBYC Committee Boat off the Halfway public house at 12:00, following the shore passing inflatable buoys along the shore adjacent to TBYC, the Halfway House, pier to starboard, Alex YC, TEYC, Essex & finishing off the LSC.
We then plan to sail along in the LSC centenary sail past of their club at approx 13:45.
And there’s more…… Once the sail past is completed, we plan to hold a Leigh Centenary Race back to the TBYC. Course to be displayed on the committee boat, now stationed off Leigh.
ENTRANCE IS FREE.

Another great weekend afloat – Well done to TBYC’s F18 Sailors David White & Matt Rainbow winning the BYC Nore Race Multihull Dinghy class & Ronnie Barnes in his Musto Skiff taking the honours in the Monohull Dinghies. It certainly looked very exciting & we have some fantastic footage of the F18 downwind for the time the Rib could keep up with you.
On Sunday for the Club Mulberry BBQ we were blessed with great weather which by midday had turned into sunfilled clear blue skies & allowing great watersports conditions with lots of smiles.
Great to see so many families taking part in a variety of craft & members making the walk out to join in the fun at low tide. Well done to the two Alex’s for demonstrating their unplanned swimming skills!

A massive thank-you to the TBYC 2011 Regatta Race Officers Alan & Sally Willis and Howard Hawkes who coped with calm professionalism with everything the weather could possibly throw at them this weekend.
Thanks to all the members that supported in the many functions such as Beachmaster, Pico Race Officers, safety boat crews, race recorders, registration, BBQ ticket promotors and the team that spent both days getting very wet assisting competitors off the water in the challenging conditions and helped with the rib recovery tasks.
Thank you to the members that loaned Ribs as additional safety cover – this permitted a much greater level of coverage allowing the racing to take place.
Plus the results team who turned around the results for our five races in super quick time – well done.
What a great team & thanks again,
Toby Speller -Rear Commodore Racing
