Cadet Night Coaching – Rupert’s Ropes

Published by under Cadets

A huge thanks to Rupert for a great launch to our winter Cadet Night Coaching sessions 56 Cadets attended to learn about ropes, their uses and to perfect the art of coiling and throwing them accurately. All seemed to enjoy the activities and it was great to see the older cadets helping the younger members of the group.

This was the first of many formal coaching sessions which will take place at Cadet night – particularly during the colder, dark evenings, these commence at 7pm for no more than an hour, each Thursday until the end of March.

Where required, further details will be posted on the website prior to each event by the organiser.

We hope this will be of interest and value to everyone and welcome your feedback – hopefully this will be something we can develop. If you have any questions please email me at [email protected]

To all Cadet parents…

Published by under Cadets,Club Notices

Dear all,

Having recently taken on the role of Cadet Representative, I am keen to ensure the club meets the needs of both children and adults alike.  My belief is that the broad range of ages, abilities and interests amongst the Cadets brings a great opportunity for learning, competition and friendship.

There are times however, when managing the activities of so many Cadets will be challenging and we would therefore be thrilled if more parents could assist with supporting the Cadet committee.

How our children behave and act at the club is our responsibility as parents and club members and whilst we want them to relax and enjoy themselves they must be courteous to other members (Cadet and Adult), the clubs neighbours and the general public.  Our activities are highly visible to all. Day Skipper Course – Theory and Practical

Published by under Members

Day Skipper Theory Course
This course can be run over 3 weekends and the can be held in the sail training room. The theory course will run 0900-1800 with breaks for coffee and lunch; the test is done on the last Sunday.
The normal cost of the course is £345.00, but depending on the number of people we have on the course, I have negotiated the following rates:-
4 People – £294 per person
5 People – £246 per person
6 People – £224 per person
7 People – £216.86 per person
8 People – £206.50 per person
These costs include Course pack and certificate (if you pass)
It is recommended that you complete the Day Skipper Theory Course before you do the day skipper practical course.
Day Skipper Practical Course
I am proposing using the committee boat from a Monday to a Friday, to complete the 5 day course. The practical course usually has 2 days in port and the other’s at anchor or moored, but will mean spending 4 nights on the boat. I therefore propose, for comfort purposes, that we only have 4 people on the boat plus the instructor, for each course.
It is proposed that we leave either on a Sunday Evening or Monday Morning, and that all fuel, food and harbour charges are borne by the candidates.
The normal cost of the course when using your own boat is £515 per person with a minimum of 4 people.
I have managed to negotiate a rate of £275 per person based on 4 people on the course
These prices are subject to club/group booking and paid in advance.

If you are interested in taking these courses, please email me on [email protected], letting me know which courses you wish to take. I will then arrange dates for both courses and email you back the availability. Depending on demand, we will run a number of courses for both the day skipper theory and practical tests.

No Ball Games In The Car Park

Published by under Cadets

It has come to light, that the window of the men’s changing room has sustained some damage, due to footballs being kicked against it. Therefore, with immediate effect, all ball games will be banned from both the front and back car parks of the clubhouse.
Any member, who is found disregarding this ruling, will be severely reprimanded and may be suspended.

Thankyou Martyn Eyre

Published by under Bilge

having just logged onto the website to check this weeks tides it dawned on me that i simply forgot to thank Martyn Eyre and his team at flightline for all their behind the scenes efforts in running the TBYC website with the web cam and weather station which are a tremendous asset to our club which unfortunately i overlooked in recognizing its importance at the AGM. There is also overdue recognition for all those who regularly add the photo’s and video content especially Barry Duce and Linzi Swindon
so in true better late than never style, thankyou!!

Subscriptions 2012

Published by under Club Notices,Members

Subscription and fees invoices for 2012 are going to be sent to members this week.

If you are intending to pay by standing order we would be pleased if you could return the completed form to the Club by the end of January at the latest. We realize this does not give you much time, and apologize for this, but would be grateful for your co-operation.
